One of our Netware servers had popped up as degraded in insight manager, when I drill down through the components, I find the cause is the Smart 2/P controller is the degraded component, with the error "Disable CMD". This translates as Disable Command Issued, and Compaq say this is due to an operating system device driver. The solution is to reboot the system into the system configuration utility to reinitialise the array accelerator board. I'm just a little concerned as I don't want to loose the array configuration, and in consequence, the data.

Solution I found to this - Use the array configuration utility to re-enable the accelerator.

OK - think this needs more detail.

Load CPQONLIN

Select Array Configuration Utility

Select the controller

Cursor down until you highlight the logical drive - Array will *appear* enabled

Hit Enter

Hit Enter again to disable the accelerator

Hit Enter

Hit Enter again to enable the accelerator
Escape out of the utility
