I just bought a PCI video upgrade card and need to first disable the video port on the all in one card in my HP Pavillion. How do I do it?

You should be able to "disable onboard video" from BIOS setup.

Don't want to sound too dumb. But how do I do that? Disable the video card from the BIOS setup?

Do you have the manual on the mother board? Anyway, go into BIOS setup. Somewhere there should be settings to "enable" different things. Look for "onboard" settings. One of which should be "onboard video". Good luck!

You should check your manual first but when you boot up you usually just have to press the "del" button to get into the bios. You have to keep pressing while the computer is booting and you will get to a blue screen which is your bios. Some computers, though, its other buttons to push, like F1 and maybe even F2 or F3, thats why you should look in your manual.
Anyway, once in your bios keep looking you will find a place that mentions your onboard video and that is where you can disable onboard video. Disable onboard video and then make sure you exit bios and save your changes, not just exit bios!!
Once you have saved and exited the bios, let it run a bit, then turn it off and put in your video card and you should be fine. When it boots to windows you can install the drivers for your new card.

It's been my experience that you can just plug in the new card, hook up the monitor to the new card and the computer picks up on it right away. Then boot and install the driver for the new card. BTW next time you upgrade get the tv tuner separate then you will save some bucks next time you upgrade the vid card cause you wont pay extra for the tv tuner. Unless you are not planning to upgrade it.
