I'm running on Win98 and I recently installed DirectX 8.0 to be able to play MechWarrior 4. But every time I wanna start a movie or a game, I get an error with the message "Ddhelp". In details, it gives me :

DDHELP caused an invalid page fault in
module ANVDRW.DLL at 015f:b00b8c19.

And then after that I can't do anything like restart the program, I have to reboot and try again. I'v already REinstalled DirectX 8 with no success... What about that anvdrw.dll file ?

Please help...

It's not a standard windows file, so it must belong to some piece of software. What programs do you have that use Direct Draw? Some kind of graphics prog, or other game has installed that .dll and it's messing with DirectX. Cheers,

Mainly MechWarrior 4 that installed the DirectX. But what's weird is when I open MediaPlayer to view movies sometimes it gives me that error too.

NovaDude, did you ever figure out this problem? I have this problem intermittantly as well. I've noticed that I never have it happen until after I've opened and closed Outlook Express. Then old DDhelp acts up the next time I use DirectX. I also have DX8.

Yeah man it's really pissing me off !! I'm THAT close to formatting the whole thing ! It does it all the time ! When I wanna start a movie, when I start some games that require DX8 and now when changing resolutions on such games it does that and I have no other choice but to reboot ! I'm sure that ANVDRW.DLL is doing something, I have no idea...

yea guys i'm having the same problem has something to do with nvidia's driver that is where the anvdrw.dll is from and direct x 8.0 but I've still got no info on how to fix it
