I just got a new laptop and anytime I try to play a game an error comes up that says

'Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the lastest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate.'

I am not sure I have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and I tried downloading it from the Microsoft website and it will take over 9 hours. I can leave it over night but I am afraid it wont work from the stories I have read about people downloading it for this reason and not making a difference. I have also tried another sugge.stion which includes saving all the installation data from the cds onto my computer then changing where it says 'Directx 9.0c' to 'Directx 0' but this also didnt work.

When i open the dxdiag in run, under display is says:

DirectDraw Acceleration: Not Available
Direct 3D Acceleration: Not Available
APG Texture Acceleration: Not Avaiable

Also it says system is using a generic video driver.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!! Should I try to download the newest version of Directx?

Thank you!

You do not have the correct drivers installed... this indicates that the bare minimum to get you running is installed...

you need the gfx drivers for the hardware that is installed in your system... so if you know the manufacturer of the gfx card or chipset that you have in the laptop, install the correct drivers (usually found on the driver disk that comes with the laptop) or from the manufacturer's website...

PS: also if you do not find the driver, please list the LAPTOP you have and I or one of the other members can then pin-point it for you...

I have the exact same problem with my laptop and the games I use. I downloaded the directX 9.0c and the game still doesn't work. I have windows XP home edition. I have a gateway intel with a 1.50 GHz processor. Do you have any suggestions
