hi folks! i need to put dx9.0c on a new system which i haven't connected to the net. downloaded it from cnet. it is asking me where i want to put it! i am using a usb2 flash drive for the transfer. could s.o. tell me the directory that i need to enter for the upgrade? thanks.

Is this the .msi installer, or the files themselves?
You need the installer.

hi bcastner, quick reply! this is the files i downloaded from cnet...what is .msi? i remember downloading a small file to desktop when upgrading from m/soft, but i don't have this is this instance...what can i do about it?

...i had already downloaded the redistributable version of the program, saved it to disk and transferred it to the new computer. the problem on execution was the question posed by the upgrade on opening it, ie. it wanted to know where i wanted to put it. i didn't know. however, since we last communicated, i have sniffed around and found the answer. the redis. copy contains install.exe!
method: open dx9.0c in a temp file, and there it is: install.exe. execute install.exe and all the rest follows. no more awkward questions.
i shall not forget this in a hurry!!!
many thanks for your input.
