DirectX 8.1 SDK Install Error

I am getting an InstallShield error as soon as I launch the DirectX 8.1 SDK installer. The error is:

1608: Unable to create InstallDriver instance.

Target OS: Windows 2000 Pro with all SPs

I have attempted the install from the MSDN CD and from the downloaded SDK files. I have attempted the install from the Admin account as well as an account with Admin rights.

Any (relevant) thoughts ??

Hi.

Go to the debug directory (or retail directory) and try the executable in there. I had v8 already installed, so if you get the error again, try installing v8 first, then running the executable.
