Hi,

Please forgive the stupid question but I am still a dangerous beginner :)

I have a linux fedora server running apache 2. I am working on a new website project and am using outside help. I have created a directory /var/
I have created a user account for the outsourced help and set the home directory of this user to the directory mentioned above.

I would like to lock this user in this directory and not allow them to go up the directory tree. The outsourced user will connect via ssh.

How do I do this?

If you want to let users upload files to the web site root usign FTP but you are not too happy with them wondering around your linux system uncontrolled you may add the following line to /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf

chroot_local_user=YES

Cheers
