Hi,

DirectoryIndex in httpd.conf is set to index.html, and I have a custom index.html in my htdocs directory. However, if I go to (my localhost IP, of course), it'll show me the default Apache start page. Only if I go to (with 2 slashes at the end) will it show me my custom index.html. This is very weird, considering I deleted the default Apache start page. What's going on, and how do I fix it? Will it do the same thing once I have a domain name?

Thanks in advance,

--Mike

oopsdude,

It sounds like either you have your DocumentRoot specified incorrectly, or you browser's cache is showing you the old index.html when you browse to (with one slash).

Have you tried clearing your browser's cache and checking that Apache is configured with the DocumentRoot directive pointing to the correct directory?

Wow, you're right about clearing my browser's cache. I always thought that it reloaded from the server the page every time I manually typed in the IP address, but I guess not. Thanks!

oopsdude,

You can configure just about any browser to not cache web pages locally. By default, most browsers do cache, and need to be manually cleared out.
