Greetings all -

I am working to change the hardware on a 5.5 email server in one site of 5 in one organization. I'm planning on using the "Ed Crowley Server Move" in that I'll put up another server in the same site, and then move the mailboxes etc to the new box.

Picture: 5 sites, one email server per site currently.

In the one site to which I am looking to add a server and replace the old one, on that server for that site, the "Microsoft Exchange Directory Synchronization" service does not exist. It does exist on all the other sites' servers.

(I know part of what the DirSynch service does is for foreign systems' updates to the Dir - but I don't know if it also is used between 2 exchange servers in a site.)

Is not having this DirSynch service on this server/site a problem? It's working fine now - I inheirted the whole system from my predecessor and I have no idea how it got installed that way.

Will it be a problem when I add another server into that site of the organization? And if so, how do I remedy it?

Thanks guys!!!!!
