Directory Structure in the PATH variable

Hi folks,

I was wondering. Is it possible to change the PATH variable so that it contains a directory structure ?

Background is:
We're using a certain directory to store shell Scripts. From time to time there are subdirectories being added and so it would be nice not to have to add another entry to the PATH variable every time that happens.
