Directory Services db was corrupt after deleting . (dot) record

Was advised to delete the . (dot) folder in DNS to cure forward lookup problems.

Approx 4 days later users are loosing dns lookup capability and falling out of Outlook. Server is 2k Sp3 .

On reboot works for 20 mins and eventually cannot boot into protected mode with error "something like"
"The Directory Services database is corrupt . Boot into Directory restore mose and repair this database" Attepted CL prompt to repair as recommended by Minasi and MS with no joy.. Ended up re building Any ideas???

Is it working now? If not, do you have a backup? Last known good config isn't going to help here. Good luck.
