Bad sector on my HD of my windows 2000 server caused me to restore using Acronis to the NTFS partition on the local C: drive. After successful restore, I'm unable to access the Directory Services or to join the Domain/Active Directory. My only option is to in Directory Services restore mode but not sure where to go from there. Any and all immediate help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Directory Services could not start because of error

I have had something similar occurring on one of my lab DCs. Even though you restored the image, you still have a bad sectors on your drive. Before anything, go to recovery console and run CHKDSK /R /F until it comes clean (ie no more CHKDSK found and repaired messages).Bring up the server and then check.
