One of our Exch5.5 servers is not replicating anymore. After much diggging I see the Directory Service mailbox isn't there (under Private Information Store\Mailbox Resources). I installed a new Exchange server on new hardware and I noticed that the DS mailbox isn't on the new build also. I may not have given it enough time but this concerns me. Does any have any info on this? Thanks much.

The connectors are there and don't seem to be the problem. I have 2 other Exchange servers and they are working correctly. Just this one. Thanks for replying.

Installing another server won't create a new Directory Service mailbox resource. Every site has only one. The mailbox resource is located on the First Server in the Site. Go to for how to determine this. If somehow this resource truly does not exist, the only way I can think of at the moment to recreate it is to delete your dir.edb and let Exchange create a new dir (and, thus, a new Directory mailbox resource). You would then have to run the DS/IS Consistency adjuster to rebuild the directory - thoug it won't include DLs. There is probably a White paper on doing this on Microsoft's site (support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1).

When all else fails, READ THE DAMN BOOK!
