Directory Permissions - Please help.

Hi,

Please look at the foll. case.

drwxrwsr-x 10 bob xyz 2048 Mar 14 17:15 bob/

say, there is a directory named "bob" whose owner is "bob" and group is "xyz".

Can another member of group "xyz" write into directory "bob".

I thought it should , because there are write permissions for memebers of the group, but I'm not able to, though I am a memeber of xyz.

Please help.

No, my primary group is different. xyz is a project which we are working on and hence a group was created.

There's your issue I think. Try it out by making xyz your primary group, logging out, back in and try to write to the directory. Mike
