Question,

I run numerous ProComm Directories (35) with between 2 and 200 entries. These directories reside on a server for all consultants to use.

Occasionally one or more of the entries have there port settings changed. I am at a loss as to how this happens. The changes to these directories are limited to a small number of people (5). And the Port settings should ALWAYS be set to CURRENT CONNECTION.

Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this.
You assistanc ein this matter will be greatly appreciated.

I was recently made aware of a problem where the specified connection is changed under a certain set of circumstances. Go to , search for dialload, and let me know if that sounds like your situation (there is a script linked from that discussion that demostrates the problem).

Knob,

Yes this seems to be what is happening.

However, we are NOT using a Script to Dial.
It is multiple dialing Directories that everyone accesses.

Are there any scripts involved at all, or does everyone just dial out and run all their steps manually?

Is it possible someone is changing the settings accidentally? The only suggestion I can offer is to try to keep an eye on the directories and see if you can determine when the modification occurs and then (hopefully) be able to trace that back to a particular person or a machine. This may not be easy since the directory file is updated each time a system is accessed.

One other possibility would be to add a short script to each connection in each directory that would set check for the connection being set to [ Current Connection ] and change that back if necessary. This would require that the script be placed on all machines that access the directories.
