Director and Visual Basic / DMX lighting control

Hi,
A friend has written a "DMX lighting control" application in VB script. He wants me to make a nice looking front end in Director. My questions are:

Is it possible to communicate between VB script and Lingo (and how??).
Or,
Is it possible to communicate with DMX via Lingo?

p.s. "DMX" doesn't refer to Directo MX! DMX is like Midi for lighting desks.
