Since we have upgraded our Director Agent from 4.11 to version
4.20.2 we have been receiving warning messages relating to our SCSI tape
library. On investigation it transpires that the Director Agent is recognising
the tape library as separate drive, Therefore, when a tape is moved in the
library it generates a warning message that a drive has been removed or is
defunct or has been added.
Sample alerts message are as follows:
full text
is "ServeRAID: Physical drive added: controller 2, channel 1, SCSI ID 6 -
20050525140944.892000+060", "ServeRAID: Defunct drive: controller 2, channel
1, SCSI ID 6 - 20050525060040.211000+060"

Has anyone come across this issue. This is only happening on our x445 servers. we have an x346 server with the same library attached and it does not produce suprious messages.

Does anyone know how these messages can be stopped.

Our environment is configured as follows:

x445 (88701RX)
BIOS 1.17
RSA - (Firmware - 1.03)
Tape Library - IBM Ultrium-TD2 SCSI Sequential Drive
W2K Advanced SP 4
Director Agent - 4.20.2
IBM ServeRAID 4 LX Controller - 06P5741

Thanks

Graeme
