I am using NW 7.2.1 on Windows Server 2003.

I have set up a save set as follows to backup users personel drives in one client for group users

D:\Users\a*
D:\Users\b* and so on but i have ommitted x* and q* as there are no folders starting with these letters.

what i wanted to do was add a second client to this group, whhere the save set would be
D:\Users
then i created a directive to skip the folders which were being backed up in the first client.
the directive looks like this

<< "D:\Users" >>
+skip: "D:\Users\a*"
and so on, but i ommited x* and q*

my thinking was if a user folder did get created which started with x or q then thi ssecond client in the group would back it up.

But i have done some testing and it does not seem to work, any ideas?

The directive is incorrect. Yo state the starting directory already with the first line. The file/dir names are relative to this absolute path. So change it to
<< "D:\Users" >>
+skip: a* b* c* .... and so on
