I have just started working with a Cisco 1700 with NAT and IOS 12.1 and I need to forward port 25 (SMTP) to an internal server.

After reading Cisco's web site concerning PAM and NAT, I am more confused than ever.

What would be the easiest way to accomplish this?

Thanks for your help.

Hello.

The vanilla rules do not allow for traffic specific
translation as far as i know...

The "best" way might be to create a subinterface ,if you
have an available outside address, and set up a static nat mapping for mail traffic with this.

I believe the answer to your solution is as follows:
You internal IP for Mail server: 10.1.1.100/28
Your Router's Public IP: 216.185.80.206

ip nat inside source static tcp 10.1.1.100 25 216.185.80.206 25

Hmm.didn't see that in the docs, and port specific translation via static maps is not mentioned in any of my sources...
Wouldn't you need an acl for this? Does nat accept tcp params
and if so with which ios's?

Could you give an url for this info?

TIA
MD
