I was contracted by a vender to program a MICS system to intagrate with AVT (Active voice) - Ver.7 They AVT was set up by another vender who knows nothing about Nortel. They or the TECh support did not no a feature code for dorect voice mail transfer. They had F990 programmed and they said that use to work with the old system i cannot find that code in my feature codes. Does any on have any thoughts about how to do a direct transfer. The porcedure is as follow now. tranfers to x300 When voice mail answer dial * 7 and extenstion number and hang up. I did program a autodial for ext 300. Sorry so legthy. Thanks

Do you know about Feature** XFTEST? The Nostar stores feature codes based on the VM you have installed. When you replace the VM you need to remove the old codes and let the system pick up new ones. I don't know if the codes are actually assigned by the VM or the system, I just know it works. This will allow you to test each feature one at a time to see if it is active and working or remove them as needed.

You don't say but do you have a VMI (or two) or is this trying to do the connection to the AVT with an ATA connection??

If you don't have Voice Mail Integration Module(s) get it (onv VMI is needed for two ports on the AVT).

If voting could really change things, it would be illegal.

The system has a intergrated board of some type in it. I just had to configure the port as per factory spec. I have never heard of this test but I just tried it on my system and it works as you said. Of corse I have Nortel voice mail. But I will go back on sight to see if this may help me ID a code that might have been assigned by system. At least I have a something to try. Thanks.

It has been my experience that you cannot do a direct vm xfer with an off brand VM. Feat986 is proprietary. For instance a few years back I was looking at setting up a voice gate with a MICS, but the reason I did not go with it is it did not allow direct VM xfer. You could only transfer in by forwarding. I don’t know if the other VM companies have figured it out yet, but that’s how it was then, so the feature may not even exist for your active voice.

As far as how it worked with the old system- they may just be wrong…you know how that is.

This sounds like an AVT with norstar M7310 emulation boards. If so you can't use Feature codes to transfer. call transfers are done by tranfer (F70) to first DN on the AVT. Set the each DN that is on the AVT to call forward busy to the next DN on the voice mail with last DN forwarded back to the fisrt. If you're using a MICS 4.1 or higher you can use circular hunt group. All DNs on the AVT must have only one intercom and no lines appearances or ringing of any lines. Use DRT to prime to the first DN of the AVt for AA answering. User sets must be set to CFNA/B to AVT prime DN for voice mail to work correctly.

This is an excellent explaination and worthy of a star! Not being familar with the AVT product line, I wasn't sure if they made an emulation board or not but that was my thought as I read the thread. Your directions are easily followed and should be a piece a cake for thephoneboy to program! Good job and thanks for the thread!

Thanks trabra,
The same holds true for all 3rd party voice mails using the emulation card. There are actually quite a few and they all the ones I've seen use the same dialogic norstar board.

No ATA's or VMI's required. However unlike norstar voice mails they only use the B1 channel. So a 4 port AVT will use 4 ports on the norstar.
