Hi there,

I am normally no programmer but I was kinda forced into finishing a project. We have a new web made entirely of asp pages, the content (except the static one) we get from a database.
Now the task:
Force a page, that was directly called, up into frames, but the frames have to be like the user went through the whole navigation (means, navigation has to be open on the specified spot), the top and bottom frame also (activated links e.g.)

At the moment, after browsing numberless forums, I am sure, this is impossible (I had in mind, sites like cnn.com but they are made entirely by cms). To add, its not possible to place a script on the server itself.

Any Ideas?
I will be thankful to everyone who can help :)

bye,

Daniela Nobis

I'm not quite sure what you mean.
No, you can't direct the display of links from one frame to another by means of asp only. However, you can do that by JavaScript.

Also, you can do something similiar to cnn or many other sites that are developed by asp to display the similiar effect with just asp. Check here

example:
I have a frame consisting of nav.htm on the left and cont.htm on right side.
If a user finds out that cont.htm is the content page, he calls cont.htm directly. He awaits that he will get back only the file cont.htm but he will get back the whole frame, so if cont.htm is not called as the startpage but can be reached by clicking through the navigation, the menu in nav.htm will be open at this certain part and the right part of frame will display the file cont.htm

Is this better explained?

Btw: your site gives me only the file in no frame:
