Customer had A NEC system that would allow them to intercom all extensions by just dialing the extension number when off hook. We just installed IPO release 11. They would like to dial intercom instead of ringing an extension when they one touch Dial. Not sure which system short code would work.

Short code *62. Dial paging followed hunt group number

Hunt group contains the extension
Anyone can dial *62

Assign the short code to your button .dial, *62

Or
label your button paging,,action dial paging,,select hunt group from list

Dial Paging works direct to extensions, no need for hunt groups. But its one-way unless the other end chooses to answer (that maybe what you want). There are features like Dial Direct if you want immediate two-way.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Thank you for your replies. I think I explained my issue incorrectly. On the IPO, when I dial an extension while the phone is idle, the phone rings the extension I dialed. The customer would like it to go to 2-way intercom instead of ring the other extension.

Hi @Bailly34
I think I know what you're talking about. I use the 'Dial Intercom' Feature to do exactly what you're talking about. I have a button programmed called 'Intercom' so when you push this button and dial the extn number, it goes into two way intercom mode.

In Manager, program the button as follows:

Label: Intercom (or you can call it whatever you like)
Action: Dial Intercom (Found in the Emulation menu)
Action Data: I leave this blank so I can dial the extn. If you want to put a specific extn in, you would type the extn number here.

Hope this helps!

Hi Tim,

Yes, I have a intercom button programmed on the phones, and for the J139 I made a short code to be able to intercom by adding *22*N#|dial direct|N and labeled intercom. The customer wants to be able to intercom instead of ringing extensions without having to press the intercom button. I tried short code 3xx|dial direct|N and 3N;|dial direct|3N and they didn't work. Any thoughts?

@Bailly34 It's a hard one. I'm looking now and I can't see any short code that covers 'Dial Intercom'. Unless there is something I'm missing, I can't see any way around pushing an 'Intercom' button like the one I explained above before dialling the extn number.

I think I remember the feature on NEC you're referring to. From memory you could change the default call method internally and toggle between the two options (ring/auto intercom).

I guess when you're changing systems from another brand there will be some changes that the client will need to get used to. I would have thought pushing an Intercom button then dialling the extn number wasn't too inconvenient but each to their own :)

Thanks, Tim

@Bailly34 Sorry scrap that, what about this?

I just set this short code up so I dial 6 then the extn number and it worked for me?

Thanks, Tim

@Bailly34 Actually there is no need for the ';'

Code 6N (6 is what I used for this example to input before the extn number)
Dial Direct
N

when I dial an extension while the phone is idle, the phone rings the extension I dialed. The customer would like it to go to 2-way intercom instead of ring the other extension.

Go to the phone being called, press Features, Call Settings, Internal Auto-Ans, Change to toggle to On, Save, Exit.

When you call the extension, and it is idle, the Speakerphone (and mic) will be switched on automatically. When the phone is in use, the call will ring as normal.

Thank you all for your help. Enabling Auto Answer on the phones worked and was the only thing that worked for me.
