We have a bunch of direct-dial lines coming into our office, and 1 of them that's not being used, just gets routed to the main receptionist's phone.

I wanted to route calls on this line to another employee, but I don't see this extension anywhere in the Merlin Magic application when I hook into our phone system.

So, for example, my phone number (xxx)xxx-6159 routs directly to my phone, and internally, extension x159 also routs to my phone.

Now, I want to do the same thing to (xxx)xxx-6140. It comes into our office, but to the receptionist desk, but when I go to Merlin Magix program, I don't see extension x140. Do I need to add this first somewhere before it appears?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

The Magix matches the DID number to an extension number, and if it doesn't match anything, it sends it to the Operator.

So, whatever phone you want to receive calls to (xxx)xxx-6140 must get renumbered to 140. Or, you could renumber one of your adjuncts to 140, and then put a Primary Coverage -140 button on the phone, that way they can still keep their current extension number.

Yes, thanks! That's what I would like to do. Have them keep their current extension, but route these additional calls to their phone.

How do I renumber an adjunct line to 140, and set up the primary coverage group? I think the primary coverage group I know how to set up in Merlin Magic, but the renumbering thing I don't know how to do. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

If your system's dial plan is in "set up space", your adjuncts are in the 7300 range. You can find these by printing an Extension Report. So once you find an unused adjunct (some extension number starting with 7300), go to system renumber - adjuncts, put in the adjunct number you want to change, and renumber it to 140. Now the Magix has a target to send the calls to.

Now go to the extension that need's to receive the Ext. 140 calls, and add a Primary Coverage button for 140. Feature 00, press an unused button with a light next to it, dial *40-140 and press Enter.

If you also need voice mail coverage for 140, back in SPM go to Extensions - Group Coverage and add 140 to the Voice Mail coverage group.

Thanks TTTommy! I don't see any adjuncts in the extension list in the 7300 range. I can run an adjunct label report though, and it lists about 15 regular-looking 3-digit extensions.

Can I use one of these? How do I use the "System Renumber"? Is this part of the Merlin Magix program? Sorry for the simple questions, I have no real experience, but am the default "phone" guy here in our office.

And after testing a few of the extensions coming up in the adjunct list, some of them are already routed to other peoples' phones. And they're not supposed to be. So can I just take one of these, and re-route it to the new person's phone?

Again, thanks for your help!
