hi all
i need help in transfering data between two h70 servers
live & backup respectively.

i do not want to transfer across the network nor manually thru backup tapes but via a direct cable connection (if possible)

I would be very interested to know if you found a solution to this...

If you have SSA between the two, you can connect use SSA Target Mode that handles some types of data transfer. Target SSA is used in HACMP for maintaining heartbeats between nodes in a cluster. Check this site for details regarding the adapter requirements and such:

Look also at connecting a serial cable between the two and setting up SLIP/PPP. I know this will work with either a serial cable or modem. Start here:

The H70 has an integrated Ethernet adapter 10/100Mb. Just get a Cat-5 cable and make it a "crossover" (switch the TX/RX at one end). This will give you a full bandwidth connection from 1 server to another. Configure TCP/IP under "Further Configuration" and fire away.

Bill.
