Hello:

Every morning we use procomm to retrieve data banks.

About once every couple months, ProComm would default to a 'Current Modem/Connection:' of direct connect-none.

Here is how I fix it:

I would start a ProComm session and change the 'Current Modem/Connection' back to 'NetDragon 56K Voice Modem' setting.

That would fix it for several months.

The problem now is that, this is happening almost every day now.

We have made no system changes.

What can I do to make the setting permanent?

Open the startup.was file in the ASPECT directory under your Procomm install with the ASPECT Editor (Tools | Scripts | ASPECT Editor menu item) and add the following line just above the endproc command:

set modem connection "connection_name"

where connection_name is replaced by your modem exactly as it appears within Procomm. Next, select the Tools | Compile menu item in the ASPECT Editor to compile a new startup script with your changes. Every time that Procomm is run on that computer, the current modem will be set to the value you specified.
