Ok silly question of the day. Do they make a small digital test set (butt-set) to plug in simply to identify the extension on a jack without having to tote around an actual Nortel digital phone?

Ok maybe this question is more of a stupid question rather than a silly one, sorry guys but I had to ask. hehe

Thank you

That isn't silly at all. I've considered making one out of parts. To my knowledge, no such test set exists for the Meridian/CS1000

Yes, they make digital butt-sets. I've not worked with one before, however, so I can't say whether they're worth the cost.

Digital buttsets" huh - show us one that emulates a Nortel CS1000/Meridian digital telephone please. Maybe I missed them.

I made one for the NEC 2000IPS out of parts from a Dterm Series E and it worked much better than toting around the whole phone just to quickly check the extension on a jack.

I saw the digital butt-sets however, I'm not sure if they will pick up the extension from our Nortel 61C (I'm new to Nortel side)

Whoa cool, you mean nobody has made one of these widgets yet? Cool I'm gonna make one right now and be rich, RICH i tell ya, then I'm gonna move to Beverly...
Hills, that is, swimmin' pools, movie stars! hehe

Not sure if they make such an animal to check the digital sets. But you can check he has allot of unusual items. If it's avalible he'll probably have it.

Hey when you build one don't forget to put a switch on it so you can check the M2000 & the M3900 series phones. Now go get rich and put us on the list for the first ones off the assembly line... Oh and see if you can have it check the T series phones for the Norstar and BCM also.

good news - I think M2000 and M3900 are compatible/interchangeable, at least from a "dial tone" and "can dial out" perspective.

uh... um... er... you got it!! (thought bubble: now if only I was smart)

Seriously though, that would be an awesome tool how come it doesn't already exist? Leagality maybe?

Great idea if the digital sets were interchangeable among the different PBXs (Nortel, Avaya, Mitel, Harris, etc.), which is why analog butt sets exist but digital butt sets don't :O(

Yes it works as advertised. It's a buttset with Caller ID (why it returned in your results as "Digital") I've got a bunch of them.

Like if you search for Digital Automobile you won't come up with a digital car either :)
