We are having to unplug and reinstall a bunch of 9408's and 9404's on our system. The set display would disappear and no information would show on the set. The phone is operational and work, but doesn't have a display. What could be causing this?

Many things.

When the phone display disappears do you still get dial tone? What does a status station show?
What release of CM? Are they all on the same circuit pack or different circuit packs?
Does the administered station type match to the actual station type (9404/9408)?

I had this happen, but with older style digital phones. It wasn't the older style phones that was the issue, it was with power supplies in the carriers that were causing this on the majority of digital phones connected to cards on that particular carrier/cabinet. If you have an alarming service, check there. In my case the power supplies were generating errors, but then clearing them, so I couldn't trust the alarming or error reporting in CM.
