DD has two databases. The RT database and the OR database. The RT contains transaction data by ticket. The OR has more detailed data including sales type (i.e. food, wine, liquor, beer, etc.). We utilize a 3rd party application to import DD activity into QuickBooks. We utilize the OR file for detailed sales data by sales type. Recently we noticed a problem in DD where the amount of sales tax in the OR file is incorrect. This occurs when the sales volume in the OR is less than or greater than 1. The amount populated in the OR file reflects the tax for a unit purchase of 1. MenuSoft claims this in not a bug and the OR file is not used to process tax amounts (I note the amount of tax on the ticket is correct). This problem occurs only when a tax type is selected where the tax is included in the purchase price (i.e. a wine is sold for $50 which includes tax, so in our case the actual retail amount is $46.73 + tax of $3.27). So if the customer purchases 2 bottles on the same ticket, the correct tax is $6.54 but the OR file populates $3.27.
So if you are using the OR file to process your daily transaction information, be aware of this tax calculation issue. I'm hard pressed to understand why MenuSoft would populate the OR with a unit tax amount as opposed to a tax applicable to the total sale amount for the item which would reflect the # of units purchased.
