I currently have a 6408D+ set running off of a 2224Cp port that I need to install in a on property location but the station location is just over the footage limit of 2,500 ft from the PBX. The connection is point to point copper cable [ on same property ]
I tested the set at the distant location and the set operates on & off and has some clicking noise. If I shorten the sets wiring by about 50 ft it works ok, so I believe it's a distance problem. My question is this, Is there any device out there that would extend/boost my signal in order to get the set to function. I have spoken to the sales rep at MCK.com and they said that they do not have anything that would work for me.
Anyone out there have a solution that they know of that works?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Yes the cable pair is protected. I tried it with removing the protectors just for grins, no change.
I'm wondering if I joined 2 pairs [ doubled up ] to decrease the resistance of the wire from point to point if that would make any difference. Hmmm

I would go with an analog phone and on page 1 of the programming is off premise station, check yes and save. This will boost the gain on the phone so be the way to go here

Joe, we had a analog set for years and it works fine but the user is the President of the company and he wanted a 6416D+ set or a 6408D+ in his house so he can have bridged appearances of his office phone that is in the main building.
Again, this is all on same property with customer owned cable. If I test the set at the house outside protector it works fine .But if I add any wire it fails. It is not the wire from the demark into the house. For example if I take a coil of 4 pair wire about 40 to 50 ft long and plug the set into it will fail by just adding the additional footage while at the outside demarc. Remove the wire and just plug the set into a jack I wired at the demarc and it works fine.

The TN2224CP will support 6400 series phones out to 3,500ft on 24AWG wire, so the outside wire in your installation is likely 26AWG. Don't know if it would be easy or not for you to replace a portion of the outside run, or maybe the inside wiring, with 22AWG cable. Since you're currently within 50ft or so of maximum, a thicker cable for part of the run would likely do the trick. The first thing to try would be to repeat the experiment you did by adding 50ft of cable, but use 22AWG instead (probably the 4-pair cable you tested with was 24AWG). This would determine if a solution involving only the inside cabling would solve the problem.

To answer David's question is no we do not have any IP phones at this time. 1 year away at this time. I'm trying to get back to the site to try joining a 4 pair wire and make it a single pair from the basement up to the second floor to see if that little bit will make a difference. I can get it to work on the first floor but again just adding some extra footage makes the difference. The outside cable is all aerial and not to accessible.[ heavy woods and steep rock terrain ]
I'll keep everyone posted and want to say thanks for the help. I'll call sandman to see if his devices will work on a digital circuit.
