Recently I implemented the use of digital certificates and encryption into our emails. Right now I'm still trying to get the digital certificates to work. It does work, however the problem I'm having is that we currently use GFi MailEssentials and MailSecurity. The problem I'm encountering is that when I send my digital certificate to an external user, that external users email program displays that there are problems with the signature, the signature is invalide or not trusted, the contents may have been altered or tampered with. If I send internally no problem. I've tested other external accounts that I got certificates for and they work fine. So the issue is somewhere in my system. That's where GFi comes in. Those programs scan emails for security risks, obviously when beening scanned something is modified making the certificate invalid. I talked to GFi and they said that's they way it works and there isn't a way around it. I find this hard to believe as I can't be the only person wanting to use digital certificates and have a email security suite such as GFi protecting my company. Any body else experience this or have any recommendations.
Note: I did turn off outbound scanning of attachments but the problem still occured. Something is modifying the email.
Thanks in advance.
