difficulty downloading driver for hp 1120c printer

Have purchased a used hp 1120c printer. when attempted to install with install cd, got message install cd not compatible with my windows xp and, attempting to install will cause " instability " of operation. message recommended downloading current driver fron hp website.

I downloaded from hp website and attempted to both " run " and " save " with same result. got a dialog box to " unzip " the file. when I clicked on unzip, it unzipped to a folder and that was the end of it. i got no install routine or instructions. the options on the unzip dialog box were " unzip , run winzip, close, browse, help ". since i had already unipped twice and could not run win zip, do not know what to do next.

Well you will have to go to the folder the executable unzipped to and run the install from there. Not all unzips will start the executable. Just note where it is unzipping the files to.

I looked at the download page and it's an .exe file. It should run once completed downloading. Make sure you download the correct file. There is one that included a whole suite of junk. Don't download that. There is a driver download in 4 parts. Don't download that. Choose the driver only with a single download. It is 4.2MB in size.

Dave, thank you for looking at the website. I wasn't aware that a driver for the 1120c comes with XP. When I found out, I went that way. It doesn't provide all of the bells and whistles but, I couldn't make the bells and whistles work with the HP download driver, either. For example, I've got an HP toolbox icon on my desktop that came with the HP download, which doesn't work. I understand from other discussions, others have had similar results. Some one suggested the tools and features work if the 1220c driver is used for the 1120c. I may try that.
