I've been looking around and a lot of the posts I have found on this are old. I'm wondering if anything has changed in the last couple releases.

Going to be putting in an IP Office 500v2 r8.1 (can go to r9 if we need to for this functionality). The client has two businesses and are up and around the office much of the time using their headsets, so they can't always look at the phone to see which line would be ringing. They answer the different lines in different ways. We are going to set them up on a PRI. I can set it up in anyway I need to - huntgroup ring for some lines or direct dial if I need to. Basically any way the phone or the system will allow me to have a separate ring for one number as opposed to another. We've thought about the analog ringer option and are trying to avoid that if possible. The client doesn't really like that idea.

Most of the information I have found says, no, it's not possible. But, again, I'm hoping maybe something has changed since most of the posts I found have been old.

The phones we will be working with are 1403, 1603, and 9508.

Thanks for the help!

I've seen in 9.x that you can assign ring tones to different lines.

This does exist but I haven't used it yet. Take a look at 9.x in the system tab under telephony.

I have heard that 9.1 will have distinctive ring for hunt groups.

I hadn't gotten to see the 9.x manager yet. There is that ability under huntgroup telephony now. That'll work for the 95xx and 14xx's. Bummer the front phones that matter more are the 1603's, but better than nothing.

Thanks for pointing me!

In 9.0 you can set the ring tone override on the ICR or the Hunt Group. The ring tones are like the optional tones available on a 1400 set. Really, only "classic tone 2" has enough of a different tone to be immediately distinguishable from the regular tone.

Yes, 14xx and 95xx can have differing ring tones for ICR and hunt groups, different than the users. It's EXTREMELY easy to setup, but lack luster at best.
There is an issue with it as well, with embedded. If a call it's a group first, then goes to an overflow that goes to an attendant, the call at the attendant to a user will be the ringer from the original hunt group; the ringer follows the first setting, not the users personal setting. It's a pain.

Remember it does not alter the ringing pattern on IP Phones 96xxseries.
Only works on 1408,1416.
