hello,

i´ve recogniced after the upgrade from 5.1 to 6.0, that some clients are saving the size of a Full backup, when netbackup starts the differential incremental schedule for them.
How can that be? I´ve checked if maybe someone set the archive bit on those clients, but it isnt.

how can i correct this problem? its a bit stupid cause it takes a bunch more tapes.
normally full backup is approximately 1,6 TB
differential is approximatel 600GB

now differential incremental is also 1,6TB????

thanks in advance
maybe someone expierenced allready nearly the same problem. I appreciate every hint and help.

regards

I've heard some chatter about this type of problem with an upgrade to 6.0 ..Some folks are re-creating the policies.

I don't know all the particulars as I am hunkered down in 5.1 until 6.99 MP_99 comes out :)

Just because the VERITAS documentation states a certain thing does not make it a fact and that is truth.

:)

thanks for the respone. Did some folk mention success with recreating the policies, or is this just a recommendation??

thanks and regards

Hmmm.
I just attempted to post a response and it got clobbered. If this shows up as a second post then please forgive.

I heard, from more than one NetBackup admin, that they created a new policy like the old one. The ran an initial full and then the incrementals worked as they are suppose to work.

Can you just copy the old policy? That's easy enough if it actually work's.

many many thanks

i will try to recreate the policy and re-run the backups.

i´m sending an update asap.

thanks to everyone.
