I have notice some people are able to view and / or edit database objects on the MS Access XP, but what is puzzling is that they are editing ms access applications from older versions of Office. They are not converting the application, but it seems that XP understand which version it is and allows the user to see it without converting. How is this done?

Hi

As I understand it, Access XP can create databases in two formats: Access XP format or Access 2000 format.

Where a database is created in Access 2000 format, both Access 2000 and Access XP can be used to change the design. This is explained in the Access XP help file.

It may be that you have saved your databases in Access 2000 format, allowing your users to change the database objects. Have a look in Access XP under Tools > Options > Advanced, and check the Default File Format dropdown to see what your setting is.

Regards - Mac
