This is a silly little problem, and I think I have found the workaround, yet I'd just like to know the answer if someone out there has it.
On my development intallation of SSMS2005, i can right click any table, and my options are the familiar choices as follows:
New Table
Edit
Design
Open Table
Script Table As...
Yet, in both my test server and production environments the choices are a slight variance:
New Table
Modify
Open Table
Script Table As...
Design and Modify seem to give you the same screen, yet there is no equivalent in the test and production installations of the "edit" option.
The equivalent to Edit on my development machine seems to be To get there, it looks like you need to right-click, choose Script Table As.. and then CREATE TO > new query editor window.
I noticed that the installation version numbers are 9.00.3042.00 and 9.00.1399.00 respectively.
My questions are:
1. does the version account for the difference?
2. is there any simple way to get that handy little edit option into my other installations?
thank you for entertaining this question tek tips pros!
