Different sized facing pages in a spread for InDesign CS?

I work for a company that is considering moving to InDesign from Quark 4 and I hate quark and would love for his to happen. I use ID CS for any layout I do for free lance work but the things I do are quite simple. We have a unique problem at work where we do ads that have tab that displays a message in multiple page ads. So all the left pages in a 40 page book up to page 20 are roughly an inch wider than the facing right hand pages. I looked around to see if that can be accomplished w/ ID CS and have not found a menu option that allows this. The document settings change all pages and you can't set it separately, that i have found, for a master page. Any suggestions or solutions that anyone knows of?

Why don't you just increase the bleed to allow for the overhang.
he Printer will be able to deal with the triming of it later.
IE. if your page is 210+297mm on the left and 250+297mm on the right then make your document 210+297mm place the tab where you want it to be the when you print it increase the bleed so it includes the overhanging tab...make your bleed 40mm

This isn't just a personal project of mine and I have a feeling that just extending the bleed will not be a viable option for the company I work for. I have a feeling they will want the art board to reflect the page size so they can make the template with appropriate cut and guide lines. We also have a database that we use to track all the info for jobs and printing that have fields that need to be in the art board. So I guess my question is InDesign capable of two different art board sizes for facing pages?

No, InDesign doesn't do it, and think no Pagelayout program does...

Quark 4 does. I work on it every day with tab pages - different size facing pages.

I'm thinking that you must be running an XTension with your Quark 4. I used it for ages and I'm sure it didn't do it, either.
