Hi there,

I want to use one of the new clone features to set different retention times for clones in NetWorker V7.5 on windows.

The idea: 1st pool (adv_file) with retention of a few day as a disk backup cache. 2nd pool (clone pool) with a higher retention on tape and 3rd pool with the highest retention for offsite.

I tried to set the higher retention with nsrclone -y and with nsrmm -S ssid/cloneid in the lab (all pools on adv_file) but the retention time is always changed for ALL save sets. Is this a bug?

If is normal that for an AFTD both instances will be changed. No idea why this also happens for the backup pool as well. This seems to be a bug.

I did try to set the retention time on the clone pool, same behaviour.

I just verified that this also happens with NW 7.4. In my eyes this is a bug. However, it might still work with tapes which i can't verify at this point in time.

Hi there,

I got the following answer: clretent is to be used

mminfo -s localhost -av -q ssid=3115846201 -r name,ssid,cloneid,ssretent,ssbrowse,clretent,volume

VSS USER DATA:\ 3115846201 1236798009 04.04.2009 20.03.2009 14.03.2009 3Tage.000
VSS USER DATA:\ 3115846201 1236798008 04.04.2009 20.03.2009 14.03.2009 3Tage.000.RO
VSS USER DATA:\ 3115846201 1236876484 04.04.2009 20.03.2009 04.04.2009 8Tage_c.002
VSS USER DATA:\ 3115846201 1236876483 04.04.2009 20.03.2009 04.04.2009 8Tage_c.002.RO

This shows different retention times. I wonder wether I have to recycle clretent-expired savesets manually.

Thanks for sharing that information.

Support says that NetWorker will recycle according to clretent.

Regards
Heiko
