I'm having data in MS-Access databases in different Baltic and central European languages. When I try to copy records from Access to MySQL with MyODBC then characters specific to national languages just changing to "whatever". How to solve this ...

maybe using some other character set on the mysql server then the current one could solve this

i'm also using ce languages on one of my mysql servers (czech and slovak) where the win1250 charset works just fine

as i'm not using (and never used) odbc to connect to the server i can't say if that helps, just give it a try ;-)

Thanx piti

Still, it didn't help. My ISP, who's running server told me, that MySQL does not depend on charset of different languages. I've been noticing, that in the same country it works correctly eg doing it in Hungary copies Hungarian chars correctly. Does it depend on server or computer with ODBC driver - really don't know.
