different datasources main report and subreports cannot handle

Hi,

I am using CR 8.5 ocx with vb 6...

I am having a main report with 4 subreports, two of them would be chosen dynamically based on vb conditions.

I am having two different databases...one is production and other is development...based on the vb parameter passed, the dsn has to be chosen dynamically and passed to cr.

problem is its not working and saying cannot open sql server

both the databases have same structure though they have diffnames and diff servers...

i checked the setlocation and it doesnt hav any prefixes,...just table names

someone suggests aliases...but i dont know how to use them..any guide link?
