Differences between XTERM and VT400 Terminal

Hi all,

I have a Problem on our SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES 8) with connecting via VT400/7 Terminal-Windows.
If we use this Terminal Type, which we need for a special Software, it is only possible to connect with one session. If I use XTERM I can open as much as I need.

What can be the difference in here ?
It workeds before on HP/UX but I need it on Linux now.
