Differences between Private, Single and Multi 2

What's the difference between private line, single call and multiple call lines on a 2616?

Typically we've only ever used SCR for a DN, or multiple DNs on a handset.

mcr is the most common, when multi stations have an scr key, if one set is busy on that line, the other sets have a busy lamp on that line, with a mcr if stat a is on ext 3000, sta b has a clear line and can receive calls on that same (3000) dn.. if call a is on hold it only flashes on the stat that put it on hold, the other users have a vacant line... pvr is for a private virtual line, meaning i have a private line to and from the outside world, don't see those much in a switch with did's almost the same, but with a pvr no one else can hit your outbound by dialing "9"

If two users have the same DN and it's programmed as an MCR key, that DN will ring on both phones when a call is coming in. Once the first person answers that call, the other appearance on the second phone goes blank. Next call into this ext will ring to this second phone. It's commonly referred to a "poor man's ACD" in that it's kind of similar but no fancy ACD features. If you take the same ext and program it as SCR on both phones, once one user is talking on this ext, the key on the other set will also show it as being in use. Multiple Call Ring/Single Call Ring. A private line is a POTS (regular) phone number from the outside world that can be programmed as an appearance on a telephone set and it's correct that in a switch with DIDs you're not likely to use private lines.

I'm thinking that a mcr will work well for some things that we have here. Just wondering if you can make busy the other appearance of an MCR if that person isn't there so that call can go to voicemail faster?
