The obvious differences between an MG1010 chassis and an MG1000 chassis are the MG1010 has more card slots (vertically installed) therefore more system capability and dual power supply whereas the MG1000 chassis only has 5 card slots without expansion cabinet with cards installed horizontally.

What are some other differences and is one better / more reliable than the other for a hybrid (digital + IP) 911 call taker system?

Are there cards that are only compatible for one system and not the other?

Thanks.

I have personally never installed a 1010 Cabinet, just in a lab environment. But to answer your question. Yes, a full 10 card slots and yes there are some cards particular to the 1010 Cabinet that aren't used in any other cabinet. The 1010 cabinet is small and compact for a 10 slot system compared to the old 10 slot cabinets. The Chassis systems are fine if you don't need the card slots and cards can be intermixed with the cabinet.

The obvious is the 10 card slots, also the fact that because it is in one cabinet you don't have the clock issue of a media gateway plus expander where you can only install PRI in the main Cab. The MGU is a good addition for easy maintenance access, also as the you can add 2 server cards (Callserver, Sig Server) in the extra bit that means you are also no losing slots from the 10 available. Like you say 2 power supplies and 3 fan units (hot swapable), old MG1000 can be a bit of a bugger for blowing PSU's when powered on. MG1000 + Expander is 10U in cabinet an MG1010 is 9U so less foot print (just) on larger installs.
