Anybody has a list of what is fixed between version 10.0.0.359 and 10.0.1.1000?

If I compare the readme files, only the amount of known issues is growing, not decreasing?

We do have a lot of issues testing 10.0.0.359 in our 9x environment, but I wonder now if I should spent the time upgrading the test to 10.0.1.1000.

Somebody mentioned 10.0.1.1000 solving some issues, but I can not find witch issues?

The biggest issue that was solved between the two version was that in the previous one the quickscan that ran at startup would cause the doscan.exe process to take up a lot of system resources, this was fixed in 10.0.1.

Also, have you been able to run SAV10 in a 9x environment? I read that it would not run a 9x system I only have on 9x system on my network so I haven't bothered trying to upgrade it.

that is correct, trying to ugrade an 9x client from a 10x server, by pushing the new 10x client software fails.

Managing 9x clients with the 10.x server is also a nasty thing. Some clients do pop up on the server after changing the gdc.dat, other never show up at the server while the clients software shows it is managed by the 10.x server.

rwullems,

Have you gone into Symantec System center and choos server tuning options and make sure the check box for allow this server to manage 9.x and earlier clients is enabled. Also 10.0.1 fixed some problems i had why the sav service stopping.

yep the doscan.exe memory prob after installation and the rtvscan.exe memory prob after each restart is fixed.
I had also problems with 16bit apps in 10.0.0.359 which is fixed in 10.0.1.1000

Bye

To add,

I had problems with profiles not unloading at shutdown and that seems to be fixed.

IIRC, nothing later than 7.6 will run correctly on a Windows 9x system.

I have a Win 98 SE client running 9.0.2.1000 currently. You still need to install from disk however. I tried to install SAV 10.x but it didn't stick.

I got mine as part of our support that we bought. They'll send you a new certficate with instructions on where to go to download the latest version.

If you have support and didn't get that by now, call tech support and straighten it out.

Oh yeah, and the fact that 10.X grinds ANY speed CPU to a '386 class performer matters to me at least.

Get NOD32
