Difference in scaling shortcut with ID CS

I have noticed that InDesign CS handles the scaling of graphics and text differently than ID 2.0.

In ID 2.0, If I wanted to increase the font size of text in .5 pt incremental amounts, I would highlight the text and press Ctrl-Alt-Shift-> . Conversely, if I wanted to decrease the font size in incremental amounts, I would press Ctrl-Alt-Shift-<.

If I wanted to increase the size of the text frame (or a graphic frame) - I would select the frame with the selection tool and use the same shortcut Ctrl-Alt-Shift->.

Now in ID CS. I can still increase the size of the frame with the same shortcut. But if I highlight the text with text tool and use that shortcut - it increases the frame and not the text. (It has the same result as if I had selected the frame).

How can I make it perform as in ID 2.0.

The keyboard shortcut to scale selected text is ctrl + shift + < or > (actually, in the shortcut editor it uses '.' and ',' instead of < and >.

In other words, it should work exactly the same way as ID2.

Check your current keyboard shortcut set in the shortcut editor and see if your shortcuts have been altered in some way. If not, then delete your prefs and try again.

(to delete your preferences easily, hold down shift+Fn+Ctrl+Alt when you reboot)

It still doesn't work as before. I have the Quark shortcuts in the preferences. When I have the text selected with the text tool, and I hit Ctrl + Alt + Shift + "." it increases the size of the text frame and not the text itself.

In ID2.0, I could use the same shortcut, Ctrl + Alt + Shift + "." to do both tasks - depending on what I had selected. If I had text selected it would increase the size of the text. If I selected the frame, it would increase the size of the frame.

But for some reason it doesn't work this way in ID CS. I trashed my preferences, but still to no avail.

I don't have ID 2 installed to check anymore, but if you were using the XPress shortcut set there and got a different behavior, then it means the shortcuts were changed. I checked the XPress 4 shortcuts, and the behavior you're getting is exactly what's defined in that set of shortcuts in ID CS. This shouldn't be an issue because you can always edit them in that shortcut editor if you're not getting the behavior you desire.
