I am starting a new class for c++ the software required for the class is visual studio c++ .net. Is this the same as the visual c# .net software in the visual studio .net package?

Visual Studio C++ .NET and Visual Studio C# .NET are two different products in the Visual Studio family. In other words, you can install one or the other or both. C++ and C# are different languages, the compiler for one cannot be used to compile the other.
