What is the difference between the User Manager for Domain and the Active Directory Users and Computers.
The reason why I ask this Question because when i try to search a name JMCarter in the Active Directory Users and Computers and the results is that the user does not exist. But when i checked the entry under User Manager for Domains, the account exists.I am just wondering, how come there are different results while i am searching in the same domain? What may be the reason for this?

Thanks,
Phoenix

Are they the same Domain, as USRMGR is for NT4 domains,

If your network is in mixed mode, make sure that your ADC is replicating properly.

Also check where you are searching from in ADUC. Search from the domain level so it can search all sub containers.

As for your question on what is the difference, ADUC has full integration with AD & email where Usrmgr can only manage the NT4 domain users.

That is not to say that if the ADC is working properly you can't view users from AD with Usrmgr, but you would have limited ability, for instance you could not view email addresses.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

Mark
