When writing javascript or vbscript to parse and transform xml documents, I've always used the Microsoft.XMLDOM document object. I've seen many alternatives to this thoughout this forum, however. For example, thread thread426-1354084 refers to msxml2.freethreadeddomdocument.3.0. Thread thread426-1357540 refers to msxml2.domdocument60. I was wondering what the differences are. Why would you use one over the other?

Ms introduced xml support without fanfare as early as ie v4.0 and since then many more releases to enhance its standard-compliant supports in sync with w3c's works and its own proprietary extension. Hence, it is normal there are versions... You have to search ms own support site for details. A simple keyword search at ms site will show you truly useful articles, and more than one can absorb before having hands dirty. These three contains useful summary info and utility.

Thanks tsuji. Those articles are a good starting point. I found the xml version tool to be particularly useful.
