Difference between SAV and NAV when it comes to Virus defs

Can anybody direct me to a web-site tutorial or simply tell me the difference between Norton and Symantec when it comes to antivirus?
The CERT web-site that we get our updates from has both NAVUP.exe and SAVUP.exe listed under Symantec Signature Updates. Are they different products or different version of the same product? I have looked everywhere for the answer. I have ordered the new Configuring Symantec Antivirus book but don't expect it for a couple of days. I hope it is easy to find answers in that book than the Symantec web-site.

SAV and NAV are the same product, but not the same version.
