Hello

I am new to SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services and cannot understand why there is a Report Designer, and a Model Designer that look like Visual Studio.

I checked the shortcuts and they are pointing to the same app,

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe"

Why is this like this? Is there functionality I am missing?

Thanks
Dave

Report Designer is hosted in Visual Studio. In VS you can create many different things - one of them is SSRS Reports. Model Designer is for "Model" reports which are a component of SSRS

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.
