I just heard about this MPLS technology and was wondering how well it will actually work can someone give me an idea or a place to research for information, I am trying to replace our T1 lines with something a little cheaper someone mentioned MPLS as one way to go the other is to place a internet T1 at my other 4 offices and connect with cicsco routers which i do not know how to configure but bellsouth said they would connect all and configure and maintain all the equipment for about what i am paying for just 2 of the T1 lines i know the speed is slower 750K-1M is this correct i run all my apps through a couple of citrix servers is this worth spending my time researching any help would be great
thanks...dls

I use MCI's MPLS network with my network. It would simply your routing infrastructure and save you money. We have around 280 offices and we don't usually have many problems. The technology is sound and as far as the customer is concerned it is just as easy as a point to point connection. The speed doesn't have to be slower, you can get as much speed as you are willing to pay for. We have dual DS3's (T3's) at our corporate office and DS1's (T1's) at our branch offices.

If you are looking for another option that is relatively cheap, you can look into puting Internet T1's from your service provider into every office. Then use VPN to connect them together.

Or you can go with the age old technology of Frame-Relay. THe good thing about Frame-Relay is that it can be cheap and unlike MPLS is available in all the backwoods parts of the country.
